1. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

completed the B. A. or its equivalent.

3. COURSES AND CLASS ATTENDANCE
i.
The Courses offered at the
College are divided into two categories:
Basic and Auxiliary Courses. While
the Basic Courses remain stable, the
Auxiliary Courses may vary from year to
year, depending on the needs of the students
and the availability of competent teaching
staff.
ii.
It is obligatory that a Student
during his Theological Formation participate
in one Seminar and present a Theological or
Biblical Research Paper of 45 to 50 type
written pages. The Paper is written according
to scientific methodology under the guidance
of a Director.
iii.
While enrolled in the College,
a Student may not enrol himself simultaneously
for any University Studies or for any other
major courses outside the College.
iv.
The Pastoral Orientation
Programme is conducted during the final year.
But some courses may be accommodated during
other semesters.
v.
Each course may consist of
lectures and assignments. All assignments are
to be handed over on the specific dates.
vi.
A student unable to attend a
lecture(s) on a particular day(s) for a good
reason should get an exemption from the Dean
of Studies / Registrar directly or in special
circumstances through the leader of the class.
vii.
If a student does not attend
one-third of a course / semester, he may have
to repeat the course / semester, or do some
written assignments, to be decided by the Dean
of Studies in consultation with the Professor.
viii.
Class Schedule:
I 8.30 hrs - 9.15 hrs
II 9.20 hrs - 10.05 hrs
III 10.10 hrs - 10.55 hrs
IV 11.10 hrs - 11.55 hrs

EXAMINATION AND EVALUATION
A. GENERAL INFORMATION
i.
Failure in three or more
subjects after re-examination in the first
year will necessitate the repeating of the
entire year.
ii.
Should a student fail in five
subjects after re-examination during the
II-III year period, he shall be considered as
not having fulfilled the requirements for the
reception of Sacred Orders.
iii.
A student who is found guilty
of malpractice in the examination shall be
sent back to his Ordinary.
iv.
The evaluation will be done on
the basis of credit system. Thus credits are
given to all the Courses and Seminars.
v.
For postponing, anticipating or
making changes in the order of the
examination, a student should have a
justifying reason and should get the prior
permission from the Dean of Studies and must
inform the Professor concerned.
vi.
Should a student fail in a
subject, he will be re-examined. The student
concerned should fix the date for
re-examination in consultation with the
Professor concerned and inform the Dean of
Studies.
vii.
There is no provision for
improving the marks by re-examination.

E = 50 + Pass
D = 60 + Second Division

C. FREQUENCY
i.
There are two ordinary sessions
of examination, i.e., at the end of each
semester.
ii.
When visiting professors or
short courses are involved, special
examination sessions may be held during the
semester as decided by the Dean of Studies in
consultation with the Professors concerned.
D. MODE OF CONDUCTING EXAMINATION
Any one of
the following methods may be followed in
conducting the examinations:
i.
Only an oral examination
lasting 15 minutes for a course of three or
more credits and 10 minutes for courses less
than three credits.
ii.
Only a written examination
lasting 90 - 120 minutes.
iii.
A combination of oral
examination and internal assessment / written
assignment. The Professor in consultation with
the Dean of Studies will decide the marks of
each.

5. COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATIONS
i.
A student will be admitted to
the comprehensive examination only if he has
successfully completed all individual courses.
ii.
There will be three
comprehensive examinations:
Sacred
Scripture, Sacred
Theology, Moral Theology
Examinations
in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Theology
consist of thirty minutes oral examination
before a panel of two or more examiners, while
the examination in Moral Theology will of 45
minutes duration before a panel of three
professors. Theological studies in preparation
for priestly ordination will be considered
complete only when one has passed all
comprehensive examinations.

6. B.Th DEGREE
To obtain
B.Th. Degree every student must pass both oral
and written examinations.
i.
A student is eligible for B.Th.
examination only after he has successfully
completed all the individual courses and
assignments and have secured an average mark
of not less than 60% of the total aggregate
marks.
ii.
The comprehensive examinations
in Moral Theology, Sacred Scripture and Sacred
Theology in ordinary course under 5. i & 5. ii
are part of the B.Th. examination.
iii.
To obtain B.Th. degree every
student is required to sit for a written
examination. The duration of this examination
is 4 (four) hours. The written answer should
not exceed ten (10) pages.
iv.
To obtain B. Th. Degree every
student is also required to write a paper
according to the demands of scientific
methodology, under the direction of a
Professor. The topic of this paper should be
sufficiently general and wide so that a
comprehensive scriptural and theological
presentation is possible. It is not the scope
of this paper to study in depth any particular
problem whether scriptural, theological or
missiological. The length of the paper should
be about 15,000 words (about 45 - 50 typed
pages). The topic chosen for study along with
its content and a short bibliography with the
approval of the moderator should be submitted
to the Dean on or before the date specified in
the College Calendar. Two copies of the final
draft are to be handed over to the Registrar
before the commencement of the Comprehensive
examinations.

7. LIBRARY
i.
The library is open to the
staff and students according to the following
schedule:
Main
Section: 07.45 - 08.30; 12.00 - 12.30;
17.00 - 18.00 hrs.
Reference Section:
08.00 - 12.45; 13.45 - 18.45 hrs.
08.00
- 12.00 hrs. (Sun.& Holidays).
ii.
A student may borrow one book
for spiritual reading for one month. One may
keep also another book for a week.
iii.
No current issues of reviews or
books from the reference sections may be taken
out of the library without the prior
permission of the Librarian.
iv.
All books and reviews, even
those for spiritual reading, have to be
returned to the library before one leaves for
holidays. |
